About Us

Malaysia DanceSport Federation (MYDF) is the Malaysia National Sports Association (NSA) governing all aspects of  both Amateur and Professional DanceSport nationwide, either through its Office Bearers, Member bodies and Members or by administrative agreements with other persons and organizations.

MYDF is established independently and registered with the Sports Commissioner of Malaysia and is officially endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Youth & Sports of Malaysia, Malaysia National Sports Council, Malaysia National Institute of Sports. MYDF is an Associate Member of Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) and is the sole member body in Malaysia qualified to nominate Malaysian athletes to compete in the Olympic family of Games. 

On 14th April 2008 the organization was at first registered as Malaysia Professional DanceSport Council (MPDC). Later the name of the organization was changed to that of Malaysia DanceSport Federation (MYDF) with approval of Sports Commissioner of Malaysia on 12th August 2010 to reflect its National Sports Association (NSA) status and its relation with the respective international organizations.

MYDF is a member of DanceSport Asia (DSA) and World DanceSport Federation (WDSF), who is the world governing body of all things DanceSport and were granted full recognition by the 106th Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 4 September 1997 which grants WDSF the official member International Federation (IF) and is the only Federation governing Dancesport recognised by IOC and Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

MYDF is formed to encourage and support DanceSport activities in close cooperation and consultation with the above International Federation (IF) and Asian Federation (AF) as stipulated by Malaysia Sports Development Act (1997) and to advance the objectives of MYDF and these organizations in the interest of DanceSport and its following.
